how to tell if your air conditioning was incorrectly installed feature image

3 reasons why Spring is the best time to install air conditioning

We’re now well into spring, and the weather is slowly working its way towards those soaring summer temperatures. That makes it a great time to think about installing an air conditioning system if you don’t already have one – or booking in a routine service and maintenance, if you do. There are a couple of great reasons why, from maintaining productivity to protecting the physical health of your employees. Here are three of the most crucial!

Stave off the worst of the heat

The UK (and the North West) isn’t exactly famed for its hot weather for most of the year, but there’s no denying that it can get pretty toasty in the peak of summer. That can start to make people literally a bit hot under the collar when working in the hottest summer months. That’s uncomfortable and unpleasant enough in itself, but to make matters worse it can also have a significant knock-on effect on productivity. We’ve talked before about the detrimental effect that warmer temperatures can have on productivity – temperatures at above 23 degrees tend to lead to a steady decrease in productivity. By investing in decent air conditioning around springtime though, you can prepare your premises to stay cool and comfortable when the mercury does begin to rise, maintaining stellar levels of productivity.

Protect your employees from hay fever

Hay fever is a particularly widespread condition, estimated to affect up to 10% of the world’s population, and ten million people to varying degrees here in the UK. The condition is aggravated by allergens like flies and dust and pollen, so as you might expect, spring and summertime can be especially difficult periods for hay fever sufferers. They’re also all effectively filtered out by air conditioning systems, making them an invaluable resource for protecting the health of your employees around this time of year. Around 95% of hay fever sufferers are estimated to be allergic to grass pollen. This is mainly released in April, which makes Spring a particularly opportune time to get air conditioning installed.

Get yourself out ahead of the rush

Unsurprisingly, around summer is the time when air conditioning experts like ourselves here at Askews tend to become the busiest when it comes to installing air con systems. By the time the hottest summer weather rolls around, that’s more or less the time that everyone realises they need it! But if you decide to get your order in at spring, it’s a handy way to get yourself a few places up in the queue – which can make all the difference when the mercury is steadily rising in the office!

And finally… don’t forget about maintenance!

Even if you’ve already got an air conditioning system installed, now’s the best time to make sure it’s working at peak condition – especially if you’ve got hay fever sufferers working at your premises! One of the best ways to ensure that your air conditioning system is always functioning at peak efficiency is through a regular service and maintenance schedule, which is a service we offer right here at Askews. Our engineers will assess the unit not just for any issues they’re currently experiencing, but also any developing issues that could turn into serious problems at some point in the future.
